On 29th November, ICMP will host a masterclass featuring the legendary Laurence Cottle together with Gabor Dornyei, ICMP drum faculty member and one of Europe’s leading drum clinicians who has performed and recorded for a long list of renowned artists as well as Walt Disney and the leading online channel for drummers, Drumeo.

Laurence Cottle is a bass playing legend who has worked with a long list of the greats of the music industry, including Black Sabbath, Brian Eno, Eric Clapton, Tommy Iommi and many more. He also has an extensive list of composition credits, with his music featured in such shows as Friends, Good Morning America and the Oprah Winfrey Show, and is constantly in demand.

In this exclusive masterclass, delivered by two highly experienced jazz session players and educators, ICMP students will learn about key elements of playing together in modern contemporary settings, gaining insight not just in the technical and performance aspects of musicianship but also advice on how to build successful, sustainable careers in the industry from the artists’ own extensive experiences.

Pete Whittard, a Director at ICMP, had this to say: ‘ICMP has a long history of connecting our students to the music industry directly, and providing opportunities not just to learn from their peers and great educators in the classroom, but also from the knowledge and experiences of great professionals who have made successful careers on the back of their talent and application. Laurence and Gabor are outstanding players, performers and artists, and we are therefore delighted that our students will have this opportunity to learn from them at this event’.
