Mapex Drums was named a “Company to Watch” at the 2012 NAMM Show for its launch of the new MyDentity Custom Drum line as well as its recently unveiled rebranding direction, which includes everything from a new logo, a new look, and a new approach to connecting with drummers .  NAMM invited six expert panelists from throughout the Music Products industry to tour the NAMM Show floor in Anaheim, California and find the exhibitors displaying “trendsetting products or services”.  The panel noted that the MyDentity program’s massive array of design choices, hard-to-believe pricing, and the unheard-of 30 day lead time could change the way custom drums are perceived AND purchased.  The MyDentity program will be available for U.S. residing consumers and only through authorized Mapex retailers starting on March 1st.

“It’s always fun to challenge the impossible.” remarks Tabor Stamper, President of KHS America (the U.S. distributor for Mapex and creator of MyDentity)  “When respected professionals from our industry saw the display at NAMM and heard what we were doing, many of them said ‘How did you do it?’ and others said ‘This is going to change everything.’  These statements are early validations of the creative thought, hard work, and considerable investment that went into building the program.  It may have started as just a pie-in-the-sky concept, but when you have the right people in the right roles…anything is possible.”

At launch, MyDentity will feature 56 wrap finishes, ten hardware colors, two wood choices (100% Maple or 100% Birch), and a range of drum sizes (both diameter and depth) usually reserved for just the high-end market.  Drummers will have their choice of six different snare drum sizes, nine different mounted tom sizes, seven different floor tom sizes and seven different bass drum sizes.  Orders can range from a single drum to the monster kit of which dreams are made.
