Having pioneered the fusion of Fiberglass material to wood drum shells in the late 60’s, Pearl is proud to announce the return of Wood Fiberglass Series drums as a limited production offering in 2015.

True to the legacy set by their innovative forefathers, new Wood/Fiberglass drums’ 7-ply Kapur-blended shell features an inner layer of Fiberglass that is hand-applied and lacquered through a painstakingly precise process. To further sculpt the tone of these unique drums, a sharp 45-degree edge is cut on the toms of each kit, while the bass drums feature a fully-rounded bearing edge.

Pearl’s limited production run of new Wood Fiberglass drums will include three traditionally-sized 3-piece shell packs.

“Over the past 18 years, I have had the same sound,” said Forero. “When I was asked to be a part of the Broadway show Hamilton earlier this year, I knew it was time to explore all of my options. I had the opportunity to host Steve Smith during one of the Off Broadway performances and he provided me with a lot of insight on the intricacies of the SONOR line and the quality of their instruments. I spent the next month trying different drums and it did not take long to realize that Steve’s recommendation to move to SONOR made perfect sense. The drums offer me a whole new way to express myself, making them the perfect fit for my work on Hamilton and studio work.” Andres currently uses SONOR ProLite drums for the Broadway show Hamilton and SQ2 series drums for his studio work. “I am looking forward to a long relationship with the entire SONOR team”, said Forero.

La crisi della creatività ovvero cinque scimmie e una  banana

Non avete idea di quante volte osservo e conosco musicisti frustrati per il loro modo di suonare “fuori dal coro”. Infinite volte.

Costoro (ovviamente esclusi i tantissimi che si sentono artisti migliori e diversi solo per una marcata ignoranza, sia in campo musicale, sia per una distorta visione di se) hanno delle capacità e delle intuizioni davvero eccellenti: preferiscono lavorare su loro stessi anziché emulare altri artisti, amano prendere ispirazione e confrontarsi con altri strumentisti e compositori, non hanno rispetto per alcuno status quo e prediligono l’innovazione, pur conoscendo la tradizione, sperimentano nuovi linguaggi perché coscienti che gli stili, in tutte le arti, nascono da uomini che hanno saputo osare, distruggendo regole e canoni che, come si sa, ad un certo punto della vita diventano limiti per l’autosviluppo di qualsiasi artista.
