Vater Drum Sticks
1A and 3A series

Vater is good about balancing its catalog with highly practical products and innovative designs and accessories. This year the company introduced unfinished versions of two of its most popular “rock” models, the 1A and 3A, and added custom designs for Primus’s Tim Alexander and 311’s Chad Sexton. Also new are two sizes of clear muting gels, the Buzz Kill and Buzz Kill Dry, and a couple of inventive StickMates, which allow you to add shaker or tambourine textures to your grooves via a slim, lightweight plastic grip attachment. It’s all very cool stuff, so let’s take a look.

Pearl Wood Fiberglass

Having pioneered the fusion of Fiberglass material to wood drum shells in the late 60’s, Pearl is proud to announce the return of Wood Fiberglass Series drums as a limited production offering in 2015.

True to the legacy set by their innovative forefathers, new Wood/Fiberglass drums’ 7-ply Kapur-blended shell features an inner layer of Fiberglass that is hand-applied and lacquered through a painstakingly precise process. To further sculpt the tone of these unique drums, a sharp 45-degree edge is cut on the toms of each kit, while the bass drums feature a fully-rounded bearing edge.

Pearl’s limited production run of new Wood Fiberglass drums will include three traditionally-sized 3-piece shell packs.

Zildjian Kerope Series

The Avedis Zildjian Company is proud to announce the addition of the Kerope (pronounced: Kĕ rōp´) line to its legacy K family of cymbals. These hand crafted cymbals look as they sound – rich, dark, and complex. a quick tour with the new cymbals series

Among the new cymbas presented by the German producer we found the new DARK BRIGHTNESS line.

Though ‘Brilliant’ refers to its finish, this series actually takes the traditional Byzance and darkens its sound. This darker sound is due to a finishing process that limits the high end as the cymbal is buffed to its brilliant look. Heavier models penetrate with directness, thinner ones shimmer with warmth. The overall combination of dark tonality and warm spread make Byzance Brilliant a great choice for everything from funk and fusion to rock.
