La Storia
Il cajón nasce in Perù intorno al XVIII secolo. Come per altre percussioni del Sud America, il cajón è un sostituto dei tamburi africani proibiti agli schiavi condotti nel nuovo mondo. Questi, possedendo forti radici musicali sia ritmiche che vocali, cominciarono ad accompagnare i propri canti (che fondarono le radici del gospel) scandendo il ritmo seduti su casse del pesce, facendo diventare queste casse di legno, col tempo, un vero e proprio strumento musicale.

The atmosphere was electric, intense, and inspiring at the 2014 PAS KoSA NYU “Weekend of Percussion,” February 15 – 16th 2014. With 20 hours of FREE clinics, concerts, and competitions, the th full-weekend Percussive Arts Society/KoSA event in New York City was a smashing success. Hosted by Andrew Beall (President, PAS NY Chapter), Jonathan Haas (Director, NYU Percussion Studies Program), and Aldo Mazza (Director, KoSA), the 2013 PAS KoSA NYU “Weekend of Percussion” again brought a unique collaboration from two of the largest percussion organizations in the world (PAS and KoSA).
