MYLIOUS JOHNSON è oramai una conferma dietro le batterie di molto artisti italiani. Il musicista americano è uno dei più grandi percussionisti della scena pop-rock contemporanea, noto non solo per il suo talento ma anche per aver lavorato con artisti di altissimo livello del panorama musicale internazionale.
Da umili origini, Mylious ha iniziato a suonare nei cori gospel e successivamente ha allargato i suoi orizzonti musicali al Jazz, all’Hip Hop, al Pop fino al rock. Si narra (e nell’intervista lo conferma) che da giovane, insieme a dei suoi amici, comprò quasi l’intera collezione dei Led Zeppelin e The Who per afferrare l’atmosfera “rock” da quelle icone della batteria.
MYLIOUS JOHNSON è un batterista con uno stile R ‘n’ B molto equilibrato che lo colloca nel regno dei nuovi batteristi molto in voga ai giorni nostri. Nel suo curriculum, alla voce “collaborazioni” (artistiche e di produzione), compaiono tra gli altri i nomi di Madonna, Jovanotti, Tiziano Ferro, Emma Marrone, Gianna Nannini, Destiny’s Child, Linda Perry, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah, Quincy Jones ed ora anche con ULTIMO. E noi di Planet Drum lo abbiamo intervistato proprio durante una delle date estive del tour di Niccolò Moriconi.
Oggi Mylious spinge i propri confini ritmici oltre con i suoi progetti DJ che ce lo faranno conoscere sotto altre vesti.
MYLIOUS JOHNSON interview – ENGLISH VERSION
MYLIOUS JOHNSON is well known as the drummer of many Italian artists. The American drummer is one of the greatest percussionists on the contemporary pop-rock scene, known not only for his talent, but also for having worked with top-level artists on the international music scene.
From humble beginnings, Mylious started playing in gospel choirs and later broadened his musical horizons to Jazz, Hip Hop, Pop and Rock. It is said (and confirmed in the interview) that as a young man, together with some of his friends, he bought almost the entire Led Zeppelin and The Who collection to capture the “rock” atmosphere from those drum icons.
MYLIOUS JOHNSON is a drummer with a very balanced R ‘n’ B style that places him in the realm of new drummers.
In his curriculum, under “collaborations” (artistic and production), the names of Madonna, Jovanotti, Tiziano Ferro, Emma Marrone, Gianna Nannini, Destiny’s Child, Linda Perry, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah, Quincy Jones appear among others, and now also with ULTIMO. Today Mylious pushes his rhythmic boundaries further with his DJ projects that will let us know him in another guise.
