Fabrizio Cavallaro Inteview

Fabrizio Cavallaro is an Italian drummer who has achieved his dream of living with music and drums. He auditioned for Berklee College Of music where he got accepted with a scholarship and had the opportunity to study with Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Di Censo, Marko Djordjevic, Mike Mangini, Kim Plainfield, Ian Froman and many more. In Boston Fabrizio becomes drummer of Dave Fiucyznski’s Microjam project, he founded a group called “The Fresh Mob” which he toured in the USA, China and Europe and recorded the video (with 906,000 views on youtube) by Giorgi Mikadze pianist for Lee Ritenour, Jack Dejonette, Jojo Mayer and others as well as band leader.

In 2015 Fabrizio started teaching clinics around Boston on “Linear Drumming”, even in Berklee while still being a student and after graduating from Berklee performed at the Agganis arena for the Harvey Maison’s tribute concert.

The Drummer In You by Bobby Deitch is a ground-breaking, innovative, easy method for learning how to play the drum set. The book does not use standard rhythmic notation, but will have any drum enthusiast playing the coolest rock beats before you know it. Kangarudiments

Kangarudiments, by Art Bernstein, is an eBook featuring rudiment lists and etudes/solos for snare drum.

The book includes 34 pages of warmups, rudiments, and snare drum solos. Designed for beginning to intermediate player, the solos feature a variety of rudiments, which progress in difficulty as the book advances. Each solo can be performed at a range of tempos, and suggested stickings are notated for each.

Also included are video examples for each solo, performed at various tempos, to serve as a guide for students and teachers, alike.

Kosa Cuba, a Sizzling Success

The KoSA Music directors – Aldo Mazza and his musician/business partner & wife- Dr. Jolán Kovács – just returned from sunny and hot Havana, Cuba after celebrating a successful 18th edition of their annual drum & percussion program: KoSA Cuba. This week-long drum and percussion camp, in collaboration with the “Fiesta Del Tambor” (The Rhythm & Dance Festival) put a spotlight on the immense talent of Cuban musicians and dancers and provided an insight on this island’s rich history and fascinating culture. This year’s trip took place March 3– 10, 2019 in the historical capital of Havana.
