Jason Sutter – From Rock to Jazz

Born in Potsdam, New York, Jason Sutter is one of L.A.’s fast rising working drummers.Best known as a rock drummer (he played for Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper) he studied jazz, marimba, percussion and he can sight read for big bands.While his name might be new to many, he’s had a busy career so far with acts such as New York Dolls, Juliana Hatfield, The Rembrandts, American Hi-Fi, Smashmouth, Chris Cornell and 80’s power rock monster band, Foreigner.Planet Drum caught up with him during a clinic held in Rome, Italy

At Winter NAMM 2017 Remo goes retro. At their Booth the drum heads producer announced the new Felt Tone series bass drum heads and Classic Fit tom/snare heads. Available in Fiberskyn or Hazy in sizes 18”-26”, the Felt Tone heads are based on the popular Powerstroke P3 formula, but sport an off-centered felt strip for a more traditionally muffled tone.

La Powerstroke 3 della Remo può essere considerata, a pieno titolo, tra le più famose e utilizzate pelli (soprattutto per quanto riguarda la grancassa) dalla comunità mondiale di batteristi. Già questo dovrebbe bastare come giudizio per consegnare a questo prodotto quanto meno il podio. Tra i motivi del suo successo troviamo la facilità nell’accordatura, un sound pulito, un gran bel colpo secco e dalle tonalità profonde.

Come ogni anno, anche per questo 2016 Batterika ha regalato ai musicisti del Centro Italia (e non solo) una delle fiere espositive più interessanti. Questa volta, però, la cosa si è fatta molto più grande e meglio organizzata grazie all’unione delle risorse di altri 2 eventi (più o meno correlati) Elettrika e Show. Domenica 30 ottobre a Roma, presso l’elegante e prestigiosa location A.Roma Lyfestile Hotel, è nata Musika Expo fondendo, in un unico grande evento, la più assortita esposizione di strumenti musicali, le performance live dei migliori musicisti europei e ancora clinics, masterclasses, area demo e molto altro.

Dario Esposito – 20 anni tra palchi e didattica

Dario Esposito, batterista italiano influenzato da diversi stili musicali che vanno dal progressive rock al jazz, alla musica elettronica, nei suoi 23 anni di esperienza nella didattica, dal vivo ed in studio, ha sempre continuato la ricerca sullo strumento per avere un suono sempre attuale, originale ed innovativo e per la creazione di nuove idee ritmiche. Da sempre la sua versatilità, la padronanza dei tempi dispari e delle dinamiche oltre che di diversi linguaggi musicali ed interpretazione delle partiture, hanno fatto sì che fosse chiamato a suonare in contesti molto diversi tra loro o dove è richiesta grande flessibilità e senso di improvvisazione e sperimentazione.
